Hello, my name is Alyona and I am from Ukraine. I am an architect and designer, with more than 20 years professional experience. I am a graduate of the Department of Architecture in Lviv and for the last 10 years have pursued my passion of landscape architecture and design.
Drawing on my zeal for painting, design and gardening, I love using my skills to help enhance the beauty of our precious spaces. As an architect and designer, I believe key to achieving this is the constant process of research, learning and listening.
In my home city of Chernivtsi, I worked closely with a brilliant team of builders, gardeners and craftsmen to deliver all my projects. To me, the implementation and delivery of a project is just as important as the design.
PROJECT 01
(01)
Glasgow, Newland, Scotland. Creating magic for you...garden, landscape, lighting.
New garden project in Glasgow I have recently made. The garden project including a pergola, swimspa, hot tub, decking sitting area with a fireplace and a rill with a small waterfall. "Floating" pads of stone provide the path reaching from one side of the rill to the other.
PROJECT 02
(02)
Edinburgh, Scotland.

The garden project with few pergolas, a hut, a fireplace, raised vegetable beds and an art object made from Cor-Ten steel. I absolutely loved working on this project from start to finish and am so happy with the final result. This garden project in Edinburgh now is in delivery stage.
PROJECT 03
(03)
Forest House Hotel in the Carpathian Mountains – design hotel grounds and guest amenities
This project comprised a plot of land covering 0.35 hectares, which was complicated by varying levels and an overall height difference of 13 metres across the site. The plot of land was divided into distinct terraces by means of retaining walls. The central retaining wall was accented with a feature incorporating the name of the hotel complex “FOREST HOUSE”. The other retaining walls and the construction of a children’s playground and pool were concealed and broken up by the creation of more aesthetically attractive naturalistic embankments, which aim to harmonise the architecture and design with the surrounding environment. On the top terrace I designed the pool area, incorporating a covered terrace, with its columns framing the views towards the pine forest. The Cafe area was constructed close to the pool and was built in towards the slope, freeing up the views to the forest. On the middle terrace the children`s pool is situated in its own area and towards the bottom of the grounds a children`s playground was constructed. A covered guest lounge zone was also organised in the area between the buildings.
PROJECT 04
(04)
Private garden in Kitsman, Chernivtsi region
This project involved the creation of an outside social space within a flat private garden. The space was formed towards the front of the garden. To provide some seclusion for the social space and reduce the overall visual impact of the structures the pergola was constructed from wood and painted dark grey. Planting consists mainly of balls of buxus and lavender, with catalpas providing additional height and volume. Up lighting is added at the base of the trees to capture a different perspective of the gracefulness and architectural beauty of the plants at night.

The lounge zone incorporates a concrete sofa and fireplace and the open terrace between the lounge and garden room is decked with wood, with space for additional chairs to relax and provide comfort for those in barefeet.
PROJECT 06

Private garden with a terrace and pergola in Lviv, Ukraine
The central element of this project is the creation of a terraced area that the client can access directly from their house. The terrace incorporates a pergola constructed from metal, but softened by the use of wood as a finishing material. A children’s play area was also incorporated next to the terrace. The perimeter of the main terrace is emphasized with a hedge of buxus. Further planting of hortensis and lavender are in the plans. Lime trees and up lighting will also be added along the garden’s border with the main road.
PROJECT 07

The glazed summer house was designed opening on to a terrace, occupying an area of 100sqm. The entrance to the summer house is enhanced with a pergola in a classic style with three columns. The lounge area incorporates a concrete sofa and fireplace situated close to the summer house. The perimeter of this social space is bordered with a hedge of buxus.
PROJECT 08
(08)
Roadside cafe with a summer gallery in Boyan Village, Novoselitsa District, Chernivtsi Region
Using a metal framework for the load bearing structure enables the design to add interest through the creation of a shade providing overhang to the summer gallery seating area. The use of a vertical wooden plank is a key feature of the design which softens the structure and adds natural warmth. The metal framework is carried over into the creation of a pergola which provides further shade when required.
PROJECT 09
(09)
Private garden in Chernivtsi, Ukraine
This project involved the full renovation of the garden including the addition of pitcher paving and new planting. The planting is enhanced with the addition of maple globosum, a lollipop shaped tree. The living fence is planted with buxus, which is cut into the shape of a wave.
PROJECT 10
(10)
Children’s playground concept in Storozhynets, Chernivtsi Region, Ukraine
The central element of this design is the metal umbrellas running diagonally across the plot of land, which provide a canopy of shade and shelter. The children`s play areas are constructed under the cover of umbrellas, with various attractions including sand pits and a children`s pool situated on the perimeter of the plot of land.
PROJECT 11
(11)
Private garden redesigned incorporating space for socialising and cooking in Chernivtsi, Ukraine
This project involved completely redesigning the client’s garden with the inclusion of a lounge area covered by a pergola and a barbeque incorporated into a feature wall made from gabions. The entrance to the house is laid out with a formal garden to add structure and welcome visitors. The intricate design work picked out by granite setts in the drive and paths draws visitors into the garden. A selection of modern materials are incorporated into the more secluded back garden, with polished non corrosive steel used around a shower cubicle to reflect the garden and create added depth. In the center of the more formal garden area an old well was capped, and a vintage cast-iron water heater placed next to it to reflect its prior use. Around the water heater colour was added with the introduction of balls of buxus, lavender and roses.

Private garden with a minimalism style in Chernivtsi, Ukraine
The client wished a minimalist style, which was achieved with the use of a few high quality materials and very selective planting. Complementing the two buildings that access the garden a summer house was added, incorporating large glass doors, a smooth render finish and wood panel accents. The paths were laid out in a strong geometric pattern using granite and labradorite, which is picked out by down lighters in the evening. The main area is laid with grass and the lounge area is bordered with a hedge of buxus.
